On August 17th, I was given the honor of documenting the birth of baby Kynlee. At 6:13AM I got the call that my client was 6-7cm dilated and in active labor. I packed up and made it to their hospital room around 7am. Momma was feeling lots of pressure, but was managing the pain with an epidural, with her husband comforting her with gentle touch along the way. After a short while, the doctor came in to check dilation and in doing so, broke mom’s water. Momma was complete and ready to push. She got into position and got to work, pushing out her sweet girl in only three contractions, with a short break for doctor to dislodge baby’s shoulder. At 7:52am, their brand new daughter was in momma’s arms. Momma and baby enjoyed an hour of skin to skin, including their first nursing session and family meetings. After an hour of skin to skin, I documented baby’s newborn exam and was back in my car heading home by 9:30. It was a beautiful birth and I am so happy that I could be there to capture these incredible moments for this family and support them as their new family member came into the world.
